The Village Camp: Baking with the Bible

August 2-6, 2021

Whether you buy it from a grocery store or a bakery, make it in your own kitchen, or receive it from a friend, bread is an important part of daily life for most people around the world. And bread shows up throughout the Bible! In addition, breaking bread has been part of Christian worship since Christianity’s earliest days.

This summer our campers will bake their way through the Gospels, learning together how to connect with God through bread. If you’ve never made bread before, that’s okay! Our recipes are simple and child friendly, designed to help each participant's baking skills grow. And, of course, we’ll still have plenty of other ways to grow – through music, art, movement, story telling, games, and outdoor play.

In light of the pandemic, we will adhere to the following guidelines:

  • We will limit capacity to 30 campers.

  • Campers will be placed in pods of 6-8 and will remain with that group all day.

  • We will follow state recommendations on wearing masks, social distancing, etc.

  • Our youngest campers must be at least 3 years old (& potty trained).

  • Our oldest campers will be entering 8th grade.

  • Our youth counselors must be entering or in high school.

  • Drop off between 7:45 am and 8:30 am
