The Village Camp is CANCELLED
for 2020 due to COVID-19
Saxapahaw UMC and Village Camp Family-
Grace and peace to you and your family! In my time at Saxapahaw UMC I have loved hearing stories and testimonies about your experiences with the Village Camp as I began to dream about what the Village Camp 2020 would look like. It is clear that the Village camp has touched many lives and offered a week of relationship building and fun for the community, and so, it is with a heavy heart that I am writing to share an update about the Village Camp that has been made out of a deep love for our community.
As we have closely monitored the guidelines and regulations handed down by the State of North Carolina, American Camping Association, the Centers for Disease Control, and our local health departments, we have become aware that the structure and programming we have historically offered with much success would need to be altered significantly this summer. After spending time in prayer and conversation discerning the best decision for our community, we have made the difficult decision to cancel camp for this summer.
Our first and foremost priority remains the safety and protection of families, volunteers, and teachers. Additionally, we are committed to providing a camp experience that fosters community building, spiritual growth, and fun for our children. We recognize there are many factors beyond our control that would greatly impact how we would need to operate camp this summer to be in compliance, and we believe it would be difficult to provide the camp experience our community knows and loves.
If you have already registered your children for camp, we will be in touch with you to reimburse any payments or deposits you have already made.
We continue to support and hold your families in prayer. While we will miss being with you this summer, we are looking toward the new ways we will be able to gather and support one another in the future.
