Serve Our Community With Us
SAFE Food Ministry

Our local ecumenical food ministry, located just north of the church, is open each Tuesday and Saturday.
SAFE opened its doors in May of 2013. Since then, SAFE has been serving families in our community who do not have reliable access to sufficient affordable and nutritious foods. From the beginning, the vision for this 501(c)3 non-profit organization has been one where people are given a hand up, and not just a hand out. Acknowledging that hunger touches all aspects life, when family members come to SAFE to be served they are offered not only food and access to other resources like financial counseling, health care referrals, and friendship through supportive conversation.

Saxapahaw Village Kids Preschool & Daycare
Saxapahaw Village Kids provides affordable daycare for this community through a sliding scale tuition (based on income) and the opportunity for full or part-time enrollment. The curriculum uses a Reggio Emilia approach, emphasizing experiencial learning. Visiting neighbor's chickens, going on hikes in woods behind the church, and growing a small vegetable garden are all part of the preschool's desire to have kids learn by doing.
More information can be found at their website at saxapahawvillagekids.com

B. Everett Jordan Elementary School
Supporting our local elementary school, B. Everett Jordan, has become a priority. Local churches, including Saxapahaw UMC, support the children through a weekly snack pack program - providing food for children each Friday so they will have food for the weekend (more information here).
