5/12/2020 update:

Village Camp Family-

I want to share an update with you about the conversations we have been having regarding The Village Camp. We want to assure you that the safety of our campers, their families, and all our teachers and volunteers is of the utmost importance to us. There is much we still do not know about what this summer will look like, but we want you to know that we are continuing to consider how to move forward with camp and what that will look like in light of COVID-19.

We are currently waiting for more pertinent information so that we can make the most informed decision regarding whether or not we will be holding camp for the summer, and what modifications will be made if we can hold the Village Camp. Much of this information will come from the American Camp Association, the CDC, as well as state and local governance. As soon as we are able to take all of their guidelines and recommendations into consideration and make an informed decision, we will share that information with you. This update will come sometime between mid to late May so we can gather the most insight on what will be the safest decision for our camp community.

We have begun to discuss contingency plans and modifications that will need to be made in order to ensure the safety of all our campers, families, and volunteers. You can still sign your children up for camp, and, in the event we need to cancel camp for this year, we will refund your deposits and payments in full. The deadline to apply for CIT positions will also be extended and we will provide more information about that in our next update. You can follow updates about the Village Camp on the Saxapahaw UMC webpage at www.saxumc.org

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Camp Director, Pastor Bailey at bailey.brislin@duke.edu or by phone at 704-840-4072.  We are grateful for your grace and patience in this time as we discern the best way to proceed.

Grace and Peace,

Bailey Brislin
